Abu Ghraib Torture Photos

  • Ag15
The photos America doesn't want seen MORE photographs have been leaked of Iraqi citizens tortured by US soldiers at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison on the outskirts of Baghdad. Tonight the SBS Dateline program plans to broadcast about 60 previously unpublished photographs that the US Government has been fighting to keep secret in a court case with the American Civil Liberties Union. Although a US judge last year granted the union access to the photographs following a freedom-of-information request, the US Administration has appealed against the decision on the grounds their release would fuel anti-American sentiment. Some of the photos are similar to those published in 2004, others are different. They include photographs of six corpses, although the circumstances of their deaths are not clear. There are also pictures of what appear to be burns and wounds from shotgun pellets. The executive producer of Dateline, Mike Carey, said he was showing the pictures leaked to his program because it was important people understood what had happened at Abu Ghraib. Seven US guards were jailed following publication of the first batch of Abu Ghraib photographs in April 2004. Mr Carey said he could not explain why the photographs had not yet been published, as he thought it was likely that some journalists had them. "It think it's strange, maybe they think its more of the same."

Ron Paul surges past Obama

I've been waiting for this to happen. It was inevitable, but it is still encouraging.  Sometime yesterday or today, Ron Paul became the leader in the only YouTube statistic he had yet to lead - most  views of any candidate, not just Republicans.  He has long dominated Republicans on YouTube, but Obama still led in total views, mainly because he started first.  Well, the turtle just passed the hare.

Congratulation Ron Paul!!!

Ron Paul is now 1st on YouTube, Meetup, MySpace, Technorati, Alexa, Clickz, Google, etc.

Ron Paul places 1st or 2nd in every straw poll, debate, and active participation survey.

Ron Paul has a good chance of winning. The old media is just too slow to realize what is happening.

Do not listen to the so called 'Scientific Polls'. Ron Paul is not included in the cleverly woven questions pollsters are asking. This has been well documented. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were doing about the same in the 'Scientific Polls' at this stage in their elections. 'Scientific Polls' at this stage only measure name recognition. Over the next six months Ron Paul will gain name recognition. Most people who learn about Ron Paul become major supporters.

Ron Paul is the only major candidate not owned by military-industrial-complex, big business, special interest, etc. Fight the system and vote Ron Paul. And tell everyone you know. Now is the time to set ourselves free.

70% of Americans want us out of Iraq and want change.

Ron Paul is only republican candidate against the war.

Ron Paul only needs about 35% vote from republicans sick of the war and abuse of powers to win in republican primaries.

Dr. Ron Paul is the man of integrity and courage that America needs at this time.

We are making history -- Vote Ron Paul!

Ron Paul has the novelty factor, but he is a rightist nut. He isn't even the libertarian he pretends to be.

By the way, I've seen most of the comment above on another forum that looked at the Ron Paul campaign in a very different way.

libhomo, that's not much of an argument. What particularly do you disagree with Ron Paul about?

I'll say that I disagree with him on several issues, but I support him anyway because he won't do anything unconstitutional. In this age of "preemptive" war and spying and lying, I'm happy with constitutional.
