Abu Ghraib Torture Photos

  • Ag15
The photos America doesn't want seen MORE photographs have been leaked of Iraqi citizens tortured by US soldiers at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison on the outskirts of Baghdad. Tonight the SBS Dateline program plans to broadcast about 60 previously unpublished photographs that the US Government has been fighting to keep secret in a court case with the American Civil Liberties Union. Although a US judge last year granted the union access to the photographs following a freedom-of-information request, the US Administration has appealed against the decision on the grounds their release would fuel anti-American sentiment. Some of the photos are similar to those published in 2004, others are different. They include photographs of six corpses, although the circumstances of their deaths are not clear. There are also pictures of what appear to be burns and wounds from shotgun pellets. The executive producer of Dateline, Mike Carey, said he was showing the pictures leaked to his program because it was important people understood what had happened at Abu Ghraib. Seven US guards were jailed following publication of the first batch of Abu Ghraib photographs in April 2004. Mr Carey said he could not explain why the photographs had not yet been published, as he thought it was likely that some journalists had them. "It think it's strange, maybe they think its more of the same."

No WMDS! Ha ha ha ha!

Proving once again that the Bushies are totally disconnected from reality and have no clue how their actions affect people around the world, Bush offers a tasteless and crude presentation in a tin-eared effort to suck up to the American media:

Bush put on a slide show, calling it the "White House Election-Year Album" at the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association 60th annual dinner, showing himself and his staff in some decidedly unflattering poses.

There was Bush looking under furniture in a fruitless, frustrating search. "Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be somewhere," he said.

Ha ha ha! No WMD! No doubt, this girl sees the humor -

Woops! Well, at least she isn't hiding WMD in her shoes....

Ha ha ha ha.

Hey, here's a great idea! You should do that presentation at Walter Reed! In the Amputee Ward! Those guys need to be cheered up and I bet they'll really get how funny it is that there are no WMDs in Iraq!

Very nice - deletes opposing views. Classy!

And what would an opposing view be to this post?
That there are WMD's? Or that the girl really has feet? Or that the little girl is alive?

Actually, I can only half-believe that post myself. I can't get my mind around that kind of cruelty.

I have become convinced that the Neo-cons are determined to start a World War. Gee, we could have a division named the Republican Guard! Wouldn't that be cool.

That picture is bothering my "beautiful mind"

Dumbass, the world war was started when the IslamoFascists blew up the Marine Barracks in 1982. It took until 2001 and the slaughter of my classmate and 3000 other innocents until most Americans realized we are at war. Unfortunately, a bunch of you are now ready to surrender to the IslamoFascists, at least until the body count goes up an order of magnitude or three.

Hey, Mooser. His "view" wasn't about the post. It was an analysis of my personality.

I'm sure you can imagine.

Yeah-whatever.

I simply stated before post some pictures of all the Kurds that were gassed by Uncle Saddam. And there were a few expletives thrown in for good measure - which I'll leave out this time.

Bush showing his complete lack of morality, as usual.

angel:

Surely he has campaign people who could've told them that laughing about WMD was going to strike normal people as appalling. Apparently none of the people surrounding Bush has a clue how hideous this "joke" is.

JJ:

What does Saddam have to do with this?

You'd think that, maybe Bush has surrounded himself with yes men. Joking about something that has caused the deaths of several thousand innocent people is bad enough, but when you are the one directly responsible for those deaths it is appalling.

He truly is a moron and that is being kind.

Yeah- Bush has surronded himself with "yes" men.
They're called the Press. That's who his audience was for that comedy turn.

tex, did you get that little quiz I sent you?
If you like, go over to Kevin Drum's blog,
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/ for his post on armed forces readiness and take a look at the comments. And I thought I was making a cynical joke!

mooser:

I thought I acknowledged your email. Oops.

You mean about your question 3 and the state of readiness of the military? That is an important question. If we had an actual free press, answers could be demanded of the morons-in-charge of squandering the national defense on illegal and immoral adventures halfway around the planet, especially if they lie about the reasons.

Did you see this post of mine about the American military?

tex and the rest, you are all good Americans. What actually is the matter with your War President?

penbiru,

I think he's insane!

Good post tex. Thanks for pointing me to it. All I can say is: that kind of thing never happens in the movies. Maybe a Major Motion Picture Production Company should take over logistics. They could sell tickets to battles, too, as an extra source of revenue. Movies and TV are where most tro.. I mean most people get their ideas about the military anyway. Too bad that includes our national leaders.

Oh, mooser, if you're interested in this subject, Phil Carter also has some good posts about it. See:

this post and the one above.

tex,

My heartfelt thanks. As I said, I love Americans. We all do in Malaysia. Yeah, except for the few insane ones. It takes all sorts to make this world, but we certainly can do without those few misplaced warring cliques.

Now what did you say about NO WMDs? In case you haven't read the news. . . they found Sarin and Mustard Gas bonehead! Something David Kay couldn't find.

Here via a new antiwar.com link. Bush's little 'joke' sickened me at the time, and looking back on it, I'd say it probably is the most offensive thing I've ever heard - I mean, deliberately offensive as opposed to shocking. A real low point for the human race. Bush lied shamelessly to manufacture an excuse for war with the full complicity of most so-called journalists, and then had the gall to laugh openly about how he'd lied. To our faces, and sniggering to his whores in the press, who laughed at the joke too. Among all the appalling moments of the world's last 3 years, this one didn't have scattered limbs or a body count; but it was still among the most revolting.
